FS: 1961 Frejus
SOLD
I have a 1961 Frejus bicycle for sale. Model unknown. Serial number puts it at 1960-1961. In good condition. Original paint and decals. Lots of patina - scratches, scrapes, chips. No significant rust, no dings, no dents. Reynolds tubing, oilers in bottom bracket and head tube. 57cm ctc seat tube, 56cm ctc top tube. Serviced, new cables, bar tape, brake pads. I believe everything is original except the brakes, which should be correct for this bike.

Beautiful bike, glws
|
Gorgeous. It would be mine if money were no object!
|
Beautiful bike. Just noticed it on another post before I saw this "for sale" post. What's the serial number on the bike?
|
85893
That puts it from late 50s to very early 60s. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9d053d073a.jpg |
Thanks Jim for the picture and the number. Man...I like this one. Really pretty. I recently acquired serial number 100116 (all chrome bike) and I just keep coming back to this one thinking how nice the two of those bikes would look sitting next to each other in my collection. Ha. I'm in Kansas City. I've got to look at my schedule and see if/when I'm headed to western Kansas and see if I could just nudge that trip a little further west to take a look. Thanks again!

Beautiful! :thumb: Everything looks correct for date, save for the brake levers. They should be Corsa 61 with metal QR. Note that the way brakes are done there is QR neither on hanger nor on lever. https://www.flickr.com/photos/112548...-Hf1jpD-HyzLZt ----- |
I actually have the correct levers. But I have no hoods for them and no idea where I would get any given the kind of unique quick release. So I used these levers which I think are later, maybe early 70s, But you are right that there is no QR in this setup. I have had no interest in it so far so I will probably go ahead and put on the correct levers.

Bumped this with new price and correct brake levers.

Bike is beautiful, Flickr is awful. What does pedal lip mean? Is the backside of the crank closed?
|
In this picture you can see a raised area on the crank where the pedal screws in. This was removed later. The back of the crank arm is open, this is not the even earlier variant that had a threaded cap on the back of the crank.
