Anyone race with a super light front wheel and heavy rear wheel?

Like the title says, Anyone race with a super light front wheel and heavy rear wheel?

Reason I ask is I am having a powertap rear built. I am also going to have a new front built. Any downside to having an ~1100g rear wheel and a ~600 gram front? I would assume there wouldn't be a change in handling since the rider makes up ~90% of the weight of a bike.

I know a bunch of people ride a light tubular in the front with a powertap rear so any input would be great. Thanks

What are you worried about?

Pulling the front wheel off the ground more than usual?

Doesn't seem to present a problem for these guys.

The front wheel will go so much faster than the rear, it will rip the frame in half. :D

I dunno. Just asking if it matters if the front wheel is half the weight of the rear as far as "weight distribution". Compared to a normal wheelset the rear would be like 300g heavier and the front like 300g lighter. Wondering if that would be a concern which it looks like its not.

The handling might feel a little different, but you'd get used to it and I don't think it would be better or worse. Just different.

I've got a Tune hub, Aerolite spokes and Niobium 30 front and Powertap, DT Competition, DT RR1.2 rear on my race bike. I've also got a matching Tune rear wheel to the front but I want the race data.

I run an American Classic 420 up font with my *wired* PT in the rear laced to a dt swiss 1.1. I don't race the PT though, just train. If anything the PT feels more stable, the AC420 rear wheel I race is pretty light. Are you going to race the PT?

yea I plan on using the powertap all the time.

Handling might be a small issue, but I think you'll be okay.
