Rode my C1 this morning

I’ve been riding my converted Specialized Hardrock as my everyday rider lately , but this morning, I aired up the tires on my matt bark Electra Cruiser 1 .
Its been awhile Since I’ve ridden my single speeds .
I’d forgotten what a sweet ride they are .
I’ve changed the rear cog on this one to a 23 tooth , IIRC . Spins out about 11mph according to my Cateye bike computer , but climbs hills easily . I plan on changing out the rear cog on my black C1 . I’ve had the gear for months and never gotten around to swapping it out.
For me it’s about cruising , not speed racing .

Great looking bike, Kirby. When I had my C1, I went through 3 different rear cogs and I believe that I settled on a 20 tooth. You can only go so fast with each cog, so you have to decide which one is the best for your style of riding. These bikes are not built for speed! It's all about comfort and cruising around, showing off your great ride.

You know , my average speed on my C1 is just slightly off my average speed with my Specialized Hardrock. The direct gearing is more efficient that having a derailleur.
Top speed suffers , but overall average is close .
On a good day I average 10mph with the Hardrock, with the C1 it’s around 9.8-9.9 .
With the Covid going on , I rarely go more than about a mile from my house .
I miss riding to town and cruising around the town pond and back .

I was riding my Roll this morning and looked up and there was one of those police speed monitoring machines that shows you how fast you are going. It was displaying 11 mph.

On some of the hills I have around here I’ve hit 20+ on my C1 and other bikes .
It’s the return trip that evens out the average :) .
The cul-de-sac across from my house I regularly take the turn into it at 14mph .
Love how my Maxxis Hookworms hug the pavement in turns .

Single speeds are great fun. Tomorrow is another Single Speed Sunday, BTW. :backpedal:

I swapped out the seat and handlebars this morning on my matt bark C1 , I liked the way it rode , I did the same treatment to my black C1 .
I like the way the riser bars makes the bike handle over the cruiser bars .
Swapped the rear gear out on the black C1 too . BTW , they are 23 tooth . I checked both today .
Rode 9 miles this morning between them .
