Small mixte frame or bike

Looking for a small Mixte frame or bike for my soon to be retired wife who finds top bars intimidating. If I am to build from a frame I want to avoid French component standards. Not interested in gas pipe.

1984 Peugeot P-16 (mixte) completely rebuild. panaracer tires & Q tubes, honjo fenders, velo orange racks front & rear, VO grand comp brake levers, dia-comp center pull brakes, new stem & seatpost, nitto bars, brooks flyer saddle (honey), velo cals, nitto watercage & soma bottle untouched by human lips. bike has been ridden about 4 miles. oops- new shram chain & freewheel from Harris in Boston.
