Kinlin Niobium 30mm rims are totally sweet. IRD sells them under their own brand. Mike Garcia of oddsandendos.com builds custom wheels with them. American classic and Williams Cycling use them in their wheels too.

www.spinlitecycling.com also builds great wheels, i just got a set of Velocity Deep V rims with Ultegra hubs from them.

i'd go drop a few questions (or use the search) in the roadie forum about it, they'll know

I'm a big fan of mixing rims for cross wheels. Are you a big Rider ? Example, DT RR 1.2. 30mm in the rear
with a DT RR 1.1, 21mm up front, or use Mavic, Velicity. The deeper profile really makes a difference in
durability. Stay with hand built, regular spokes. It makes it alot cheaper to rebuild.

They're a solid set of wheels. You may want more spokes for cyclocross, but if you're light you can probably get away with it.

Mavic CXP33 hoops with Ultegra hubs and 14/15 db spokes, and be done with it. I raced mine, ridden them on the road and ridden them on singletrack. Trued once in three years and never broken a spoke.

It comes to point where dicking around with wacky stuff yields no results. A solid wheelset is worth it's weight in gold...

An OP rim and Ultegra hub will be very serviceable for many years. That is worth something in the long run. If Easton uses a lot of proprietary parts, and they change designs, it may become difficult to fin replacement parts in the future for your obosolete wheelset.

If you are going to race cross then I'd suggest tubulars. It really makes a huge difference. If you want to race/ride cross and street then clinchers are the obvious choice. Just a thought...
