Kamra Triathlee 'designed by Nishiki'

Found this at a garage sale a couple weekends ago. I got it as part of a pakage deal with a very nice Bridgestone RB-1 for $150! Has any one heard of or know anything about this bike? The only thing I can find online is this old post -http://search.bikelist.org/beta/View...aspx?id=276667
Mine is exactly as described minus the rear wheel. I almost wonder if I've got the same one! I've replaced the seat, tape and chain. Put some wheels I had on it and have been riding it since. Seems to be a nice rider and am more than happy with my purchase, even if it hadn't included the RB-1 (more on that bike later when I can get some pics)! Here's some quick pics I took with my phone. I'll try to get some better ones later...

Edit - pics didn't work! will add them after work.

Side question - I've been told the 3-pulley Cyclone is pretty rare. Is it desirable/valuable to any one though? I felt it was rather noisy and cumbersome and replaced it with a standard 2-pulley cyclone i picked up.

Pictures?

OK here's the pics I've got. They're awful (sorry) and I'll try to get some better ones this afternoon...

I would peg that right at about 1983-85. That frame should be thrown in the trash. If you send it to me, I'll ensure that it's properly disposed of :innocent:

RobbieTunes 08-17-11 02:44 PM

Given you got that AND an RB-1 for $150, I'm not sure we can help you.

Jealousy is a bad thing.

Welcome.

Some better Pictues as promised.

Wouldn't have thought it would have a triple on it.

non-fixie 08-19-11 01:56 AM

Nice bike! Love those cable routing details. Even if they don't make you go much faster, they look very cool. Thanks for posting.

Awesome derailleur! ...and nice bike too, looks like a nicely finished frame.

I was kinda surprised as well. It didn't have the rear wheel, so I don't know the original freewheel gearing but to have a triple-crank and that high-range derailleur on a frame with no braze-ons for racks or fenders is a little strange. The inner and middle rings are bolted together with a spacer on a 110 mm bolt circle. But, it's also drilled/tapped for an even smaller 'granny gear" if wanted/needed. Probably the most versatile set-up I've seen. If I remember correctly it's currently a 52/44/34 up front. I'll check after work.

looks about my size too. <3

Found another example of this brand. They call it a Schwinn, so not very helpful. That makes four, including mine.

BTW, I take it you have seen this thread? (didn't see it mentioned)

Andycapp 11-02-11 12:43 PM

Yeah, that's one of the four. ...Make that 5, someone should buy this and releive my temptation (I don't need twins!)

Too small and too far away. But I do still like it.

All I ever see is walmart bikes in the T-town garage sales. Well, there once was a softride TT bike looking sexy at a non-garage sale price. Size? (Just in case your storage area is getting full.)

Not sure I follow, or maybe you don't! I'm not selling mine, just tempted on the E-Bay one... Looks like a 54-56 maybe, smaller than mine in any case. You're in Tacoma I take it? Other than these two bikes (above, and I'm not complaining!) I didn't see anything worth while at garage sales this season either... better luck next year!

I just found this bike, or should I say frame, at my local 2nd hand community bike shop, here in Tacoma, WA. Just wanted to know a little history on this baby since the last set of posts on it. It is the exact same bike as what’s in thread, every scratch matches up perfectly to the pics.

Welcome to BF C&V.
We need more Puget Sound riders to join-in on the occasional local meet-ups.

That's pretty cool you found the same bike that's on this thread.
I just wonder what a triathlee is?

You know, I was scratching my head about the whole "Triathlee" thing too. I guess it just adds to the mystery.

Here's some pics I took before I take my wrenches to it. At a glance, all the lines look straight and besides an occasional rust spot it looks fine. I'm gonna clean it up, and look it over as best as I can, and if it looks good, I may build it up as my ride for the STP this year.

I like a bike with a history, and from the looks of it, this exact bike was here before, so I was looking to find out more about it (past lives, achievements, wrecks, and prior builds).

Very Interesting. What's the tubing decal say? The internal cable routing is cool too. I like how unusual and possibly rare it seems.

I'd rock that one. Nice pic

My barn is full of otherwise sporty bikes with triples.
