Seat options for Catrike 700

Picked up a used 700 last spring, about 10 years old, excellent shape. There's some horizontal band in the seat mesh that kills my middle back. At least it seems there is, though I cannot feel one on examination.

I have been using a 9" x 19" piece of 2" white foam (squishy), and it still bothers me. I recently went to a piece of 3" medium stiff foam (blue). It's better, but foam is HOT!

Are there some alternative materials, preferably something with an egg-crate pattern for less body contact? Catrike had (has?) a replacement seat that's $135 or so. I'd prefer to spend less, especially since I may spend the $135 and then find I don't like it either. Suggestions?

Having owned several cats, I have a love/hate relationship with their design/seat. It can often be difficult to set the tension in the seat straps just right to feel just right for you. Whether it be the seat fabric itself or a cross member, you can play with the straps, tightening and loosening until you get the feel that you want. Other than that, your only option is foam or a Ventisit pad.

Good luck and keep trying, you've got a fine machine. :thumb:
