1972 Peugeot PX-10 overhaul finished.

Just finished the overhaul of this PX-10 that I picked up from greg3rd48. It’s for a friend and will be her first road bike. Perhaps a bit overkill but hey it met the the price point and quality requirements so here we are!

FD, freewheel, pedals and wheels (these are 27") are not original. Unsure of the stem. Light wasn't the best for photos but oh well.

It cleaned up nicely and rides like a dream!

Looks awesome! It's super shiny. I think I recall Greg showing me pics of this one - unless he has more than one blue one. I finally found a blue one in my size last year or maybe 2019. Seems ever since I got rid of my other, I always scored ones in the 54-56 range. It was in horrible shape, pic after I bought it below, it's torn down now waiting for rebuild.

Did you need to do any touch-up on the paint? If so, what did you use for a match? I've got some TT cable guide corrosion to deal with ... Just look at what was under the tape!!!

francophile Those handlebars are in shambles

And nope, no touch ups, the paint is in extremely good shape and is actually shining even better than my photos are able to show.

it's a work of art. Beautiful!

Yeah, look at the hoods too! KILL IT WITH FIRE!

I bought it from someone who was re-selling for a friend in the mountains with a much higher sense of its value than it was worth in this condition. They originally wanted $450, but after a month or so, they dropped into the $300 range. Eventually made it to $250 which was at least in the parking lot of the ballpark, so I reached out and we made something happen, but not without a very tough negotiation! All the bearings and races are in good shape, just some nicks and scratches, decals to deal with. It's not high on my list, but it's one of the few complete bikes I kept after my big sell-off last year.

I am impressed. Well done and you are fortunate to have such a lovely old iconic bike.

Beautiful! You really brought some luster back to the paint. Nice work, and a kind act for your friend! :thumb:

You bargained well I'd say! I got very lucky with Greg's asking price. Also, we learned that he lives nearby the neighborhood my family is from in the Bronx and he remembered my grandpa's old company out there, so it was a nice deal all in all.

Thank! The paint certainly shines, if I end up with some photos in better light I'll put some up. Although the photo of the top tube gives you a good idea.

I resemble that remark. They look like the ones on my Carlton. I'll bet the cloth tape was at least 40 years old.

Looking showroom fresh. Nice work, hope she enjoys it!

Love this!

Giving me motivation for my px10! Looks great. What wheelset/hubs are those? Normandy?

I must say that I am glad to have passed on my PX10 to you. I enjoyed her for a few years and she was gorgeous but just way too small. If only it had been a 56cm! I hope that she enjoys riding it for many, many flat-free miles. You did some fine work to build her back up. I too was totally surprised and amazed that though we live across the country from each other we have such a close connection in the Bronx. You are welcome to ride any in my stable one day if you visit the Bronx again!

I will always have the photos of J.P. Weigle's French Fender Day '18 and '19 when I rode the 75 mile round trip on my PX10!

Blue PX-10s are the best PX-10s

I also moved this on to another BF CVer since I wasn't riding it enough. I do wonder if that was a mistake.
