jimbo,
In re: the badger trail, you can get water and use the restroom in Monticello. Their facilities are just off of the badger. Nice blog. |

Jimbo, Actually at the Monticello trailhead the 2 trails are just a few yards apart. As I am not familiar with the recently completed portion of the Badger, are there any good areas to park near the southern end of the paved section? Considering going up parking south and riding in to do the John Nolen thing.

There is a great place to park where the southern end of the paved section starts at Purcell Road. This is a cleared area where many people park. The picture is from the winter, but the GPS location is dead on. https://picasaweb.google.com/bartsbi...52978387677970 When you enter Fitchburg/Madison the Badger trail intersects with the Southwest Trail and the Capital City Trail, you can either keep going north along the Southwest trail to get downtown or go east along the Capital City trail to get downtown East is more scenic but north will save you some miles. Or you could even go north along the southwest trail and cut over to go thru the Arboretum. Here is a map i have of the Capital City/Southwest Trail http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...a4c925b15&z=13 Here is a map i have that has a route i do thru the Arboretum http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...bed7b01f2&z=13 The Nolan thing is neat but is very crowded |
Thanks for the info. I see that the 2nd ride the drive is cancelled and that next years event will probably follow a different route.

Well done. Thanks for posting this.
