Critical cycle vs Retrospec?
About all I have the budget for is a Critical Cycles or a Retrospec.
Any thoughts on these two? Are they decent enough just for city commuting? What's the gear ratio on them? I've seen a Fuji feather also but it's $650 CAD :( |

^ agree. Pass on anything with the name Fix in it as well.

Is using a Canadian supplier an absolute must? Retrogression ships world wide and I'm pretty sure BD at least ships to Canadia.
Edit: http://www.bikesdirect.com/canada.htm |

Edit: Bikesdirect.com Shipping for Canadians | Save up to 60% off new bikes eg $400 for a TT * 1.33 * 1.15 import tax = $611 Plus a shipping company as they can't ship to Canada = $650. So, the Fuji Feather is also that in CAD. |
I'd ride that Fuji Feather for sure. And by your calculation, it's cheaper than the starter bikes we normally shill here.

Did a grocery run today and parked next to a chrome Big Shot that looked kinda nice. Lavender deep rims.
But yeah KiloTT if you want steel, otherwise maybe Aventon. |
Critical Cycles vs Retrospec = Maruchan vs Top Ramen.
You're getting a cheap bag of **** either way. |
CityGrounds ships to Canadia.

BigShot is up there with Pure Fix, Retrospec, Critical Cycle, Sole', etc. Absolute garbage. On a stick. Roasted.

I have been riding a Critical Cycle bike for a few months now (be 75 in November) and just love it. It a good and cheap and fun to ride bike. I ride it 30 minutes almost everyday to McDonalds and back for a coffee and muffin. Have not had a single problem with it and only changed the Pedals out for a nice set I had in my shop. Even the seat is comfortable. You cannot beat a cheap Critical fixie for value and fun.

If you are in Toronto, and have a small budget, you should be going to Bike Pirates or Bike Sauce for a used bike. I know Bike Sauce usually has a lot of different options and the volunteers there are veryknowledgeable.

Hey they cannot call it Top Ramen if it isn't the top, this is 'Merica and you can't lie on labels like that, it says it in the constitution. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!
