With my terrible hearing, I couldn't make out much of what he was saying, but I gather the thrust of it was the same message repeated in the rear window of a Subaru parked about 20 yards away.

First cheerful highlight of Day 1, after about 4 miles of climbing, is of course the Bacon Lady, dispensing her grilled, salty meat product to all comers. This year there was no trivia-question requirement, which raised some eyebrows but definitely made the bacon-dispensing line move a lot faster.

The legendary @bironi, who does this strenuous ride on his fixed gear DeRosa, demonstrates the first rule of crossing a cattle guard on a fixie is "Don't Stop Pedaling."

What was the location of the concourse display? Either someone has a very cool reading room or that community has a very cool librarian.

My guess is opening speech, Gugie is thinking of things that could possibly go wrong and/or wondering why a rescue boat is needed for this ride.

Cool how your photographer was able to catch you JUST as you were phasing out of 3D on that barren road, and then managed to jump through the portal her/himself into the waterfall scene.

It was at the Montessori School.

Here's a couple more. After taking a few pics, appeared camera quit working. Later found getting it in & out of jersey pocket moved a switch over to taking videos(something I didn't know it could do), because my pics are followed by several very short vids, that record self & others speculating on why camera quit working. :) Anyway here's Mark @gugie & Tim @Lascauxcaveman at the start and Craig with partner, both of Cody Wyoming enjoying the view at lunch on day 1. Followed by a few more pics. Last pic confirms that in Montana, if you raise clover, you also raise deer! Don

How did your gears work out for you? If I read correctly in the other Cino thread, you were going to run a 42/26, or something like that, as a bailout gear?

^^^^^ In Wisconsin, we just call it "hay", and leave it at that.....

Gugie: Whew! You smell that?? Good god, man...

Caveman: Heh. Yeah, uh, no charge, bro.

Ended up with front 30/rear 32. Gave me 25 gear inches. gets you up the steepest grade, so happy with that. Front brake, not so much. If you hit a hard bump(lots of those on Cino), the little aluminum cable stop at the lever can jump out of place while you're braking, relocates beneath its proper place = lever to the bar. Exciting & happened 2X to me. Another PX10 owner said "Oh yeah, mines done that". Don

She did require a song of me, so, I gave her a bit of "Oh Happy Day" Don

That's what super glue, zip ties or ductape are for, on the road/trail hacks require unconventional resources. ;)

I had an interesting Cino. I managed to hurt my hand on the Monday before and by the time I got to Kalispell I decided that it was best that I not ride so I talked to @mountaindave and volunteered to do support. I helped to fix a number of flats on the road as well as @ollo_ollo's brake problem. My Day 1 highlight was handing out 3 beers at around 0930.....that was before the top of the hill and the bacon stop. Day 2 was pretty easy, I mixed martinis at the top of the hill for several people and the only flats I had to deal with were @northbend and @gugie who both had double flats about 1000 feet apart. :foo:

It's hard to appreciate the size of the waterfall...but look close over the heads of those sitting and you can see some people up close to it.

Thanks to David Cummings and crew.
Another superb adventure.
Great to meet up with those willing to ride these roads?
Wish I was a bit younger with the wits and reaction to ride it at speed.
Oh well.
The ride is a hoot regardless.
Again, thank you all:
Planners, luggage support, drivers, motos with mech stuff, excellent food, beer, wine, photo pros, scenic rest stops, property owners of those lovely rest stops.
And those who started the show.
You have one hell of a great big-little community.

You all are too kind! It was a great pleasure putting it on this year. My only regret is that our time is all to short together. It seemed like the Concourse/packet pick-up was logistically a success... but I hardly got to nerd out over peoples' bikes! :cry: (Note to self: find non bike nerd volunteers to handle that next year.)

It was great to see all of you again and make new friends too! I've always loved meeting people from BF in person at events like this - C/V really is a great crew!

Thanks for the great photos!

I definitely plan on making this next year.... Would be a blast!
