Another Rule 9 day ... chilly and rainy when I went out ... might be my last true month of outdoor riding, so I need to get in as many as I can this month.

jsigone 10-01-18 12:21 PM

socal is in between a tropical storm coming up from baja, so means HUMID as F with chance of t-showers. I'm not ready for cold weather rides yet......give me another month or 3 to prepare

Beachgrad05 10-01-18 12:53 PM

It was warm yesterday. I was posting about something related to my bike ride and it being warm (mid 80's) and had relatives from MN chime in that it was getting cold there. Then my uncle in Palm Springs chimed in that it was finally below 100 for the high. I replied on the thread about possibly heading out there to ride with my ALC teammates during pride weekend...and I was not SPECIFIC about where I was going to visit... My aunt in MN near the Canadian border started telling me how cold it was and there was no pride event happening that she was aware of and how Minneapolis might be more to my liking weather wise. :foo: Then she messaged me her phone number and then my Uncle piped in with a message about how cold it was to visit there and better times to come. :roflmao:

I had to explain I meant visit to PALM SPRING which is NEAR me. Bless their hearts for being cool about me randomly wanting to visit if that was what I actually meant. :D

I just noticed @jimincalif wrote "CARBON" loading in the thread title...

Those of you with alternate material frames are still welcome to post random nonsense in this thread.

Oh no! That's what I get for creating a thread while waiting for my first cuppa coffee to brew! :crash:

StanSeven 10-01-18 01:27 PM

Thread title fixed now.

jimincalif 10-01-18 02:11 PM

Thank you @StanSeven! Thanks for noticing @TrojanHorse. I asked the mods to fix it and now we're good!

TrojanHorse 10-01-18 02:48 PM

Aw, I wanted to do some carbon loading for a change.

Burn that toast!

A random thread about nothing... and it still goes over 24hrs without a reply. :foo:

jimincalif 10-02-18 11:18 PM

Not enough nothing going on in the last day!

ill.clyde 10-03-18 09:23 AM

We have officially reached the schizophrenic weather of fall. On Monday, it was cold and rainy and I was in full-length tights, full-length gloves, a base layer and a jacksey.

Today ... Shorts, short-sleeve jersey ... supposed to be almost 80 later.

Back to the chilly weather later this week ...

TrojanHorse 10-03-18 10:13 AM

Speaking of nonsense weather..... it's been a touch humid this week from the storms in Mexico but seriously, this is uncalled for:

We got not even what you could call a sprinkle so far. Just enough to see a few widely spaced drops on the patio. It would be nice to get a few nice gentle rains over all of SoCal before the Santa Ana winds start, just to take the edge off fire danger.

Nice view BTW, that makes your driveway hill worth it!

jsigone 10-03-18 10:41 AM

still sunny in san diego

tunavic 10-03-18 02:22 PM

And the Coachella Valley keeps getting more tolerable by the day. I finished a ride today at about noon and it was still under 90 degrees!

Dave and Gerry both live in Calgary. They sent these photos yesterday.

Those Calgary pictures are just so wrong (says this SoCal native). Nice for a Christmas card maybe, but not where I wanna be.

This is true but once in a while I send them a Canadian joke:

Dave & Nadine are at the airport in Palm Springs, awaiting their flight.

They are dressed in heavy boots, parka, scarf, mittens, all ready to head back home to the Canadian winter.

An old American couple standing nearby in shorts are intrigued by their manner of dress.

The wife says to her husband, "Look at that couple. I wonder where they're from?"

He replies, "How would I know?

She counters, "You could go and ask them."

He says, "I don't really care. You want to know, you go ask them."

She decides to do just that, walks over to the couple and asks,

"Excuse me, I’ve noticed the way you're dressed and I wonder where you're from?"

Dave replies, "Saskatoon, Saskatchewan."

The woman returns to her husband who asks, So, where are they from?"

She replies, "I don't know. They don't speak English."
