Found a Sirrus X...Finally!
Crazy times we are in. Made a post a few days back about a used Cannondale, but determined it was going to be too small so I didn’t make the trip to look. Found a few other used bikes I thought I would like and they were all sold within minutes, it seemed, and always knowing I wanted a Sirrus X, but was going to try and settle for now. Been calling around quite often to different shops all around, with some saying it might be late fall or next year before they see more.
Came real close to buying a Giant Escape 3 today, that was used, the deal fell through due to a crappy seller. Got mad and called my local bike shop again just to see if anything used has came in since I called Monday. They say, "actually, we received a Sirrus X 2.0 about an hour ago...it's in the box here in the shop!!" Couldn't believe it. I really wanted the black version, but this one is growing on me already! Brought it home, adjusted the seat and bars and went for a quick 10 mile ride. Super happy with this thing on it's maiden voyage. I have purchased a Crosstrail and a Diverge from the same shop. Crosstrail was too heavy and found quickly I didn't like or need the suspension fork. Loved the Diverge, but don't get on the drops as much as I used too and sold that after a knee injury. This one fits all the boxes I need or want currently and am just happy that I made that phone call to the shop to double check. Need to get some bottle cages, take the reflectors off the spokes and get some lights (front and rear) as I will do some rides early sunrise before work. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...0fd54f56f.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...db4df13aa.jpeg |
Congrats on the new bike! Looks great in white.
The removal of reflectors is the first thing I do..... |
I like the contrast between the frame and fork. It seems like every bike is black these days -- you done good in white!
|
I've been contemplating the same Crosstrail to Sirrus migration. I like the white!
|
Hmmmm, I'm looking for some spokes for my Sirrus.
|
Yeah, finding new bikes these days is a tough deal; most shops are seeing sales up around 75%, which is amazing and will help the brick-n-mortar guys stay in business (lots of mechanical work will be needed in the future).......I looked at the Specialized Sirrus but I've ridden a ton of rigid single-speed over the last 10 years and the 2021 Trek FX Sport Carbon fit the bill for me........enjoy your ride!!!

like it, I'm sick of black.

Sirrus X is a fun bike. I recently bought a 4, after I was unable to find a 2 or a 3 in my sizing. Then I bought my son another 4 and I bought two more 3s for my younger sons . . . and then I had to figure out how to rack 4 bikes on my car! We love them so far, and I hope you do too. |
I have a 2014 black Sirrus that i like. The white frame with black fork and red accents look better in my opinion.

I remove reflectors for three reasons:
|
hokiefyd's reasons are better than mine......but I personally do not like the look of them especially in the spokes. I've seen so many bikes that have chipped/cracked spoke reflectors that shift (up and down) when the bike's in motion. The constant "clicking" would drive me nuts!
Besides, I don't need TDF guys I ride casually with to have more reasons to break my balls. They give it to me enough when I ride my Hybrid with them :) |
Yeah, I too remove those reflectors for nothing other than, well, vanity... I hate the way they look, especially on a dark-colored bike. Heck, if they made them in black, I'd be the first to put them back on my bike (of course I have no idea how black colored reflectors would reflect light...). But fear not, I'm not totally sacrificing safety for vanity's sake. I have front and back lights and a light on the back of my helmet. I run all three, in flashing mode all the time. At night, my bike is like a Christmas tree; I can't see how anyone may not see it because it doesn't have reflectors in the wheels!

Really liking it so far. Put a cell phone holder on it. Bottle cage will be here Tuesday. Reflectors removed and thrown in a box with previous new bike reflectors. Ordered some new pedals for the bike as these are not meaty/grippy enough for my liking. Might eventually go back to clipless and still have those and the shoes.
I have a rear bag on my electric hunting bike that I will probably put on this one. What else? |

Now just wait for the crank arm to come off clean when you dont expect it and you are all set for many miles of riding thereafter.

Wow! Very bright! What is the color of the reflective strip?
|
Do you mind posting a picture of the bike during daylight to see what the reflective strip looks like? Thanks.
