GOOD NEWS/BAD NEWS (contains New Bike Porn)

The Good News:

FedEx delivered this to me last night

http://www.strongframes.com/blog/wp-...R4-325x425.jpg

It's a custom built Carl Strong steel road bike w/ S&S couplers, an EDGE 2.0 carbon fork, DT Swiss Mon Chassarel 1450 wheels, and full Shimano Ultegra gruppo.

The Bad News:

It's snowing in NYC now! I won't get to ride this for at least a couple of days! I'm goin' nuts here!

stapfam 01-07-11 11:29 AM

Can't ride for a couple of days????

Get a good coat of polish on the frame and be ready for when you can.

And get more detailed pics of it so we can drool more.

Retro Grouch 01-07-11 11:38 AM

It's Friday! What's wrong with a spur-of-the-moment weekend road trip?

Barrettscv 01-07-11 11:48 AM

Congrats, more bike porn, please!

Looigi 01-07-11 12:00 PM

The title got me all excited and I find it's only a teaser. Where are the "intimate" closeups?

PaulH 01-07-11 12:04 PM

Orange.
Orange is good.

Paul

StephenH 01-07-11 12:13 PM

I thought the intent of the couplers was to make it easier to travel to someplace where it is not snowing...

Siu Blue Wind 01-07-11 12:15 PM

Oooh congrats? Got more pics? :)

MinnMan 01-07-11 12:53 PM

Nice bike.

have you got a photo studio? Is that some sort of stand replacing the left crank that is holding the bike up? or is it a promo picture from the vendor?

Also, a steel frame with a carbon fork is kind of novel. Haven't seen many of those, I don't think.

NOS88 01-07-11 12:55 PM

Congrats. Now GAP and get out there and ride snow or no snow. Oh, but wait... it is a new ride. OK, so wait and break it in easy. ;) Sweet looking ride.

The Weak Link 01-07-11 01:09 PM

Close-up of the bottom bracket please, if that's not too deviant.

M21 01-07-11 01:56 PM

What does it weigh?

TromboneAl 01-07-11 02:04 PM

That's not bad news. Bad news would have been "But the frame got bent during shipping" or "It weighs 45 pounds."

Congrats.

rck 01-07-11 02:16 PM

Notice how our definition of "porn" has changed. Sweet bike!

Carl's wife, Loretta, shoots all the pics.

Louis 01-07-11 06:08 PM

Oooooo. Lovin' me some orange steel.

Cleave 01-07-11 08:39 PM

Hi Bob,

As pretty as it is, I wouldn't ride it until the roads are perfectly dry and the temperature is about 70°F. ;)

Enjoy it!

Shhhhh.

It's a steel bike. We shall never speak of this again.

For those not satisfied with one pic, more porn of this type is at : http://www.strongframes.com/frames_&_pricing/road/

Steel is good. Steel is real. Looks like you got a super deal!

trackhub 01-08-11 08:31 AM

Steel.
Steel is good.

Like the Orange color as well. That's almost that color I refer to as "70s Orange".

qcpmsame 01-08-11 04:26 PM

What a sweet looking Bike. Very nice choice in frame builders and in that gorgeous "Hugger Orange" frame color. Enjoy the ride and if the weather keeps you inside ship it here, as said earlier. NW Florida is warm and sunny.

Has it been treated with Framesaver?

My new frame should be coming later this month.

I hope.

Some months back I watched his 3-part video on how he makes frames. It's really a good video; well editing and instructive. After watching the video it definitely made me appreciate his attention to detail on each frame he makes.

Yes, it's a very nice website to spend a little time with. The owner's gallery is pretty good too. I'm starting the Cycle Montana ride in Bozeman in June and would definitely like to visit those guys.
