my bike with 36v 500w golden motors front hub from motrax NZ. does 30-35kph with about a 25k range not pedaling. 3 x 12v 10ah sla batteries. i'm saving up for lithium..... I got my 250watt kit from Motrax too and I must say that they great for good customer service. |
So today I found my camera, now just to find the cord. Anyways, I took some pictures of my winter project, restoring an old McKinley Aventurier, and turning it into an e-bike Xtracycle.
Will post those later. |

How do you find your bike rides with the weight of the batteries on the carrier?

and my izip with a dead controller just ordered another. ill keeps this bike as is.
i wana build another with a brushless hub :) |
AllenG, regarding your sidecar add on for your bicycle, is that attached to the Xtracycle itself, or to your bike? Did you put that together yourself or is it a commercial product? I'm really interested in it.
In the picture, it looks like you've run it into the tubing on the Freeradical where the wideloader would go, and secured it with a strap to the V-rack? |
Is this so your father won't get his skirt caught while riding? (Joking)

Urban mover
Ah crap, I wish I had bought one of the above, I have a (falling apart) Urban Mover! :(
|
No offense but that thing looks like it would fold together at the first bump. Needs more structure in the middle.
|
Looks can be decieving. Study engineering and you'll discover that some things are very sturdy despite the fact they look like they're going to fall apart.

So true....

That particular bike style is for the mobility impaired typically, and i've seen much weaker looking ones than that. I don't even think that the new Sun variant has trusses, whereas on that estelle, it looks like there are 2 on each side of that central tube.
|
It's a Biria rebranded by Heinzmann after they add their hub. They are a German bike company and that thing is built like a tank. Abney is right there are struts on both sides of the central tube.
Here is the line of Biria's non motorized bikes with that frame: http://www.biria.com/bicycles/eb/ |

Interesting! Not one recumbent! I couldn't get photos on Bike Forums but I have 2 motorized recumbent trikes on Frappr and Flickr. One is a 2007 hub motor, the other is a 2001 bolt-on kit; the oldie:

This is my Ebike, a Wilderness Energy Kit mounted on my Trek 7000 hybrid. I am really enjoying it. We have lots of hills here (Laguna Niguel CA) and the 600W motor makes a bicycle commute possible for me. I had a litte trouble with the installation, in that the rim was out of ballance and the spokes loose, so a trip to the local bike shop and cool. By the way the guys at the bike shop kinda look down at the ebikes, but new ideas always meet with resistance.

Hmm, it seems some of the ebikes posted here don't have pedals. Are they ebikes, escooters or emotos?
|
Yes if you look VERY close above the stand you will see the Pedal Shaft sticking out.
|
Hello. Here is my ebike that I've had for 2 years now. It is lots of fun and keeps on going.
