Tracks in Paris, France

Hi all,

I'm new here, thought to say hello to you all and ask a question.

Does anyone know of any tracks in or close to Paris or who can point me in the right direction please?

I'm an ex rower and would lve to get into racing after jmping on a friends bike in the street.

Than you in advance,

They have recently (only a couple of weeks ago) opened a new one - perhaps surprisingly it is the only 250m indoor velodrome in France. http://velodrome-national.com/

Hi and welcome to the sport and to Bike Forums.

Being that you come from a rowing background you aren't exactly starting from scratch. All of that lung, core, and leg training can be directly put to use in track racing. There have been some examples of rowers who make an easy transition from rowing to track cycling. One example is Rebecca Romero.

Romero has won world championships in both cycling and rowing; as a rower, she won a silver medal at the Athens 2004 Olympics in the quadruple sculls, and the following year was part of the British crew that won the 2005 World Championships in the quad sculls. Suffering from a persistent back injury, Romero retired from rowing in 2006.

Romero later took up track cycling, and made rapid progress in her new sport, specialising in track endurance events.

In December 2006, Romero won a silver medal in the pursuit at the UCI Track World Cup event in Moscow – her international cycling debut – losing out to fellow Briton Wendy Houvenaghel.

Romero won her first Cycling World Championships medal in March 2007 with silver in the 3 km pursuit.[7] The following year, at the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, held in Manchester, she won the individual and, (with Houvenaghel and Joanna Rowsell), team pursuit events.

Hi Zizou,
Thank you for your reply.
I'll go and take a look.
It's not so easy to get to from Paris although like in any city, space is of the essence I guess.
My next quest will be to find clubs who use it so that I can learn but I imagine the best way, after initial guidance ie the different lines on the bank, will be to get out and do laps.
Regards,

Hi Carleton,
Thank you for your reply and welcome.
I sat next to Rebecca Romero on an erg when she was younger as we were at the same club and it's incredible what she has achieved in both sports. Although I remember her 2k erg times and so not so surprising!
Regards,
