Bikedude

Well it will be great to see pics of once you get all setup for yourself. Also, From what I have seen of Bianchi geometry it tends to favor shorter stems due to longer top tubes in the later Eighties to mid Nineties.

Bikedude; judging from the tubing decal, DT shifters and the Campi Stratos (yes?) it appears your Trofeo is an '96. the HT should be 73' and the seat tube varies a bit for size but is generally in the 72 to 74 range with 72' being on the largest frame 63cm a 75cm frame has a 74' seattube.

Holiday who put the decals on your Squadra?

me. Did I put one on sideways? :)

great Bianchis. between my Sport SX and the Proto there was the afore mentioned '88 Supper Leggera whos frame broke and most of the parts went to the Proto. my next Bianchi was my '93 Project 3 mountain bike. unfortunately the only pics I have of it are dressed out as a commuter/ Rail Trail bike. Tange Infinity MTB tubing (in Superset) mostly Shimano Exage but some Deore LX and XT mixed in for some reason (supply?) and a Sugino Fusion crank. he current wheels are Matrix Cosmo (free from the Trek Rep in '94) with n o name shimano hubs and Avocet K20s 700x32 (I think can't really read them anymore)

NOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! I have a set of chorus levers ergo 10 speed levers and F&R derailleurs I could sell you!

I have a soft spot for red decaled Bianchi's. Before I purchased my bike I almost bought a 97 alloro just because it as the red decals. The dolomite that Bianchi produced the last two years had the red decals but it was WAY too much money. One of these days I will find one of those two used.

OH I missed this little tidbit. I am considering the same thing for one of my Bianchis, strange as it may seem, but I aquired a new to me frame (of a different manufactue!) and need a nice Record group for it.

Am I going to have to sell all my extra campy stuff to keep you guys honest :-)

rothenfield1 03-03-11 12:00 PM

^^^^^
Testors white and yellow with just a touch of blue got pretty close to matching my celeste frame as I recall.

Bikedued 03-03-11 08:25 PM

Bianchigirl was very close to guessing with 94. I pulled the seatpost which moved freely(WOOHOO!!) and found the date code
in the saddle. The little circle said 94, with the arrow pointing at October. The month I was born, which is pretty cool:D.,,,BD

My garage find 198? Volpe, recently put back together to my tastes and budget, purists be damned!

How it looked when I brought it home:

I LOVE that bike! a Turquoise 1987 Volpe, I test rode the one we had for sale in the shop a few time but the boss never let me buy it :(

I like what you did with it, sometimes it is more important to make a bike fit your needs and comfort than to keep it original

Thank you. I posted more pics and information in the Bianchi serial number thread. 1987 was the summer that I spent riding around the Bay Area on a Bianchi. No wonder this one felt so right!

Not old enough for this forum, but I guess it qualifies for this thread. It's the smallest road bike that I ride, but it is a favorite. Nothing fancy, but it works well for me. If I can ever source some celeste plastic fenders, it will be close to perfect. I forgot, But BG once told me what year, I think it is 99?

Since I have noticed a few new Bianchi owners in the last few months I decided to hunt down this thread a revive it.

Shortly after buying by Project 3 I left the bike business and although I kept riding I did not buy a new bike for a few years. in '99 I ordered a Ti Bianchi frame and specced it with Record 8spd ergo. I really wanted the early Ti frame with the huge DT but they were long gone, and I would have to wait another 10 years for one

I guess I need some new pics of this. I made a few small changes, new stem and Chorus style brakes, I also seldom use thos Mavic wheels. I am not sure what it is but something about this bike never WOWed me. perhaps it is me and the larger size of the frame but it always felt dead compared to other bikes I had ridden.

I love celeste but the awesome-ness of red won in the end.

This is an eBay find that I built up with a Shimano 600/ultegra group off my Bottecchia. The seller listed it as an 1989 but I'm not sure as this is my first Bianchi. The frame is in great shape, only a small amount of chain clatter marks, the rest is mint. As the story listed, the seller purchased it from a friend who had the frame delivered straight from the factory to sub while his other Bianchi was repaired. Rode a few weeks then back on the hook. It looks it or it's a respray.

nice Bianchi and interesting story.

I never got the chance to ride one, but it is my understanding that those SLX frames were very nice
