Interesting water bottles and other weird parts found on bikes

Got any pics of "differnt" type things you've found on bikes that you don't see every day? How about interesting water bottles?

Here's one that was on my '72 fuji fine-ass when I got it:

Had one with a bottle of red nail polish and an emery board/file duct taped to the top tube.

:wtf:

Snarkypup?

:p

I bought a kid's bmx at a thrift store just for the top tube protector. It says jammin' with a tropical background. I couldn't resist, being named Benjam(m)in. Then I gave the bike to a neighborhood kid. Hopefully that karma will keep some jerk from stealing my prize.

Picture coming (maybe)

It always seems like I find $0.07 in every seat/handlebar bag under the plastic stiffener. I always deduct it from my cost when I figure my profit. Of course I'm also known for stopping for pennies while crossing busy intersections.

Got a husband and wife's matching univegas with tripleizer kits. Lots of home-rigged racks

Ask and ye shall receive: Terry's pump clips. They make it extremely easy to swap mini pumps between bikes... especially when you spend the summer trying to take a different bike for each ride :). If someone else doesn't start making these again I'm going to have to put the local waterjet people to work.

I picked up this dusty duo on CL a while back. A '65 Varsity and a Centurion. The saddle bag was chock full o' nuts!

I'll have you know that my bottle of nailpolish was clear, thanks much. And my nail file was metal.

Will I have to attach them to the tt to keep the Shogun from rerusting? Probably. And a wee bottle of vinegar.

I haven't found anything weird on my bikes, but the Panasonic did come with the original waterbottle from 1989. I tossed that sucker in the trash. Wasn't weird though, unless you consider selling someone anything with a 21year-old waterbottle attached to it, weird. Which I really do.

If you'd washed it well then filled with vodka for the first use it would have been just fine ;)

Here's one with a cork stopper. The Simplex water bottle cage is not one I see very often.

Got this one from a scrapper over the summer

"Innovative" water bottle holders are definitely something I've found on a number of bikes--and it's usually the holder and not the bottle that I end up with such as those velcro ones. I do have a bunch of holders for the Rhode Gear model from the 80s:

Fortunately, I also have one of those bottles, which I bought new back in the late 80s.

That's decent looking Miyata rOckhOund!

sailorbenjamin 12-31-10 11:33 PM

This is probably the coolest thing I've found. It was tucked into the handlebars of my '43 Roadmaster.

Of course I was equally surprised when I got this '46 Roadmaster home and found an organic, free range turkey in the basket. No wonder it's such a heavy bike.

That's funny. I used to ride to school with my french horn strapped to the Plescher on moms Raleigh. I never understood why the kids made fun of me. Now I sorta get it.

khatfull 12-31-10 11:52 PM

I forgot to snap a pic before I stepped on the danged thing and turned it to dust but I had a dry and dessicated wasp fall out of the BB of the current project. The serial number dates the frame as May '72.

khatfull 01-01-11 12:01 AM

Ball just dropped for us, Happy New Year!!

sailorbenjamin 01-01-11 12:26 AM

What did the ball drop out of? A bottom bracket or a hub?
