Resolutions/Goals?
I don't see any New Years Resolutions here, is that out of fashion now?
Mine: I'm aiming at a certain pace for 3-5 mile runs. And I'm going to catch up on physicals and checkups this year, long overdue. Anyone else? |
I set a whole list of goals last year ........ :(
|
I'm going to ride my bicycles more and my motorcycles less.
|
If it's worth making a resolution, don't wait! Just do it! :thumb:
|
gonna try, again, to get a job I can bike commute to :commute:
|
Much like my Xmas resolution, try to be around for next New Year. :giver:
|
I'm going to try and get out on my bike more during the cold months here in SoCal. I've always missed my yearly mileage goals due to being off the bike when the temps drop.
|
Rubber side down.
More saddle time. Minor upgrades to vintage bikes. Tubulars. Be a good human being. |
1. Avoid injury
2. Tour more. |
Make it to my 72nd birthday..
|
My goals are all health/medical related in general. I neglected my health for almost 20 years and it all caught up with me in 2018. Because of the labyrinthine bureaucratic system I have to be more systematic. Much as I dislike setting goals or making plans, there's no other way to approach it.
But for riding a bike? Nah. I follow the Joker's philosophy: Do I look like a guy with a plan? I just DO things. I'm moderately systematic on the indoor trainer, but outdoors I take the fartlek approach. If it seems like a fun challenge to improve my time on a particular Strava segment, I'll do that. If the body says "nope" then I don't. |
Fewer coronary stents. Fewer broken bones. Fewer hours on BF (sorry guys). More miles. I clocked 8663 km this year (5383 miles). Shooting for 10,500 km (6525 miles) in 2019. Be the kind of person that my dogs think I am. :thumb: Happy and a prosperous 2019 to everyone. |

Hoping that you make it to 72 and beyond. |
I hope to be as healthy as I am and get to 71.
I want to get to a decent average speed and reach 1000 miles for the year. Frank. |
I had Weight Loss Surgery 10/22/18, 10 weeks ago today. I am down 64 pounds, 86 from my heaviest in May. I do not have a goal weight in mind, my only true goal is to be more fit and healthier. So, that is my resolution and goal at this time. How do I get there? I have to go to cardiac rehab gym once a week to be monitored. I am doing my best to be in the local gym at least twice a week. And I am looking to get on my bike on the trainer the remaining days. 10 minutes right now KILLS me. But, it is easy on my failing right knee, and my still injured left ankle.

1. More miles on the Ice Age Trail - I want to segment the entire trail before I'm 65 (I'm 57 now). 2. Take more pictures to capture my adventures, both biking and hiking. It was fun to look through what photos I had for 2018 to put together a collage of the highlights of the year. |
I am dumping everything that does not bring me joy, or intellectual stimulation.
|
More wattage, less cottage.
|
More biking. I got off my bike today and I was at 4792 miles. Next year I want to get 6k. Next year starts in 2 hours and 19 minutes for me,
|
Take care of my health. Riding is good for my health. So ride more.
|
Last year my riding goal was to average 20 miles a day, or 7300 miles total. I ended up with just over that, 21 miles a day, or 7681 miles.
I think my goal for 2019 is to both ride LESS... and to ride MORE... :foo: Fewer days riding, and fewer hours riding... but to ride further. :foo: Most of my riding has been commuting/errands/utility cycling, and it has been taking up a lot of time. I'd like to work on speed and power a bit, to get faster at my regular rides. Hopefully a couple of longer bike tours. Oh, and I keep meaning to start building frames. :) |
Stand on my left tippy toes. -mr. bill |
I don't do resolutions, but my health and fitness goals for 2019 are:
1) 3000 "real" (not trainer) miles for the year 2) Ride my age (65 miles) on or around my birthday (mid March) 3) Lose 20-25 lbs These are pretty modest goals given my history (8-10k miles a year 10 years ago), but I'm just now 100% after a nasty concussion 2 years ago so we'll see. SP OC, OR |
My goals:
|
Just my one usual goal: to do well on a particular event ride. The past few years, it's been RAMROD, 154 miles and 10,000'. Having one concrete goal rather than fuzzy goals is essential for me. Not a Resolution, just an ordinary goal. We always laugh to see the gym fill up with newbies for January and maybe part of February. Then we're back to the regulars again. Keeps the gym in business, though.
