For us, cold +wind = beautiful walk on the beach, just under 7 miles. Met these two.

Too windy for the tandem. Next week.

Bikes rust terribly in the salt air.

Ironically today seemed quite warm. Vistor to NYC talked me into going for a ride, so set out with a pack crammed full of warm stuff but really only rode in long tights and a double layer of my usual long sleeve summer tops. This was along the Hudson River, so really fortunate that there wasn't much wind. Could probably stand to find warmer gloves though.

It's not knowing what to bring for variable weather that's a big part of why I tend not to ride once the weather gets colder. Also the time change - was in a habit of doing park laps after work one year, it's one thing to have it get dark during a ride, quite another to set out when it's already dark with the intent of riding just for enjoyment.

Forget the socks a nd shoe covers. A good pair of winter shoes are worth their weight in gold. I have a pair of Shimano winter boots that keep my feet nice and toasty. Lake also makes some nice winter shoes.

Agree 110%. Below about 25F they make a world of difference. I didn't wear mine Saturday morn with a temp of 29 at the start (1st MTB ride of the year) and was just warm enough with woolen Wigwam socks in my regular offroad shoes.

Last ride in shorts and short sleeves for awhile, probably.......Biscotti still good.

So much for forecasts. We were anticipating 3-4" but received over 9". More like a January event and a decent one at that.
