Show Us Your Bikes Starting With L
Here's your chance to show us your bikes alphabetically!
It goes like this: every fortnight I'll start a new thread with a new letter in alphabetical order. Post your classic and vintage bikes that correspond to that letter, eg; C = Cinelli, Carlton, Ciocc. M = Mercian, Masi, Motobecane. And so on and so forth. The letter of the fortnight should correspond with the marque, not the model. For example; you could post your Tommasini Prestige in the T thread, but not in the P thread. If you're not sure, take a look at the word on your downtube. There's a grey area with people's names - Bruce Gordon, Claud Butler, etc., but I'll leave it up to the owners which thread is preferred. Make sense? So let's see your Litespeeds, Lapierres and lemons...I mean, Le Monds. |
C'mon Lygie people. :) I almost bought one back in the early 1970s. I am sure we'll see some Lejeune and Legnano owners pop up soon.

Almost afraid to post these after all the controversy over putting the early Greg Lemond Bikes in the G thread.:p
Kidding of course, LOL! So the first Lemond was Billato built like the other Greg Lemond bikes but not distributed by TSDI and badged as Lemonds only. This is an Excell tubed mid 90s GLX Team Gan one sporting a nice Campagnolo Racing T setup. Not the numbers tag braze one not present on all of these. This is also the "squarest" frame of all my Greg Lemond/Lemond bikes in terms of top tube to seat tube size. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/166790982.jpg https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/166790963.jpg Next is my first Lemond, a rather beat up 2000 Zurich. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/129693889.jpg Then there's the 2003 Tourmelet that I actually just sold about 2 weeks ago. It was a bit small at 53cm but was upgraded with nice Ultegra/Dura Ace 10 speed parts. It was just too redundant in my collection and one of my smaller bikes. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/169146777.jpg Then there's the unique Gentleman's Poodle & Grouse Society Lemond. Long story behind this one, if interested search my old post. Hmmm, I finally found the right Icon road stem for this a couple of weeks ago and put it on. Looks like I need to shoot a new pic with it. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/167016672.jpg Here's the man himself with one of these rare bikes. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/167470373.jpg And next is the "spine framed" Lemond Versailles that I'm still sorting out. Upgraded with a bunch of Dura Ace 10 speed parts and a nice triple sporting Wickwerks chainrings. I just don't find this as comfortable as all my steel Lemonds. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/169055605.jpg Finally there's the Chambery that I just recently found local. I'd been wanting to try one of these aero-aluminum frames. Need to take it for a shakedown ride in it's current configuration before I decide what to do with it. https://pbase.com/jhuddle/image/169436573.jpg I still need to score a Team Lemond! |
This is my Lemond, welded circa 1996. It's currently wearing 650b shoes, not pictured.

My 96(?) Bilato Lemond. Just love riding this bike, although I DNFed l'Etape last time I rode it in June.

My '64 Legnano Roma Olympiade, had since new. It was my race bike as a junior racer, my college commuter, did some local touring, then hung on the garage wall for 20+ years. What was I thinking? In 2000, I turned 50, got it down from the wall, and we have been enjoying the miles and smiles together again. Been thru two Eroica rides. On the way home from this year's Eroica I acquired a 1961 Gran Premio from a nice BF member, so now the Roma has a little brother. Both great rides.
