So I did the twill tape thing. Hand dyed to get the right red. I just wrapped over the 80s foam padding that was already there…for now. It actually turned out pretty good. Thanks for the tip....

Post #15 mentions linen so I just assumed real linen. As a fiber, linen is twice as strong as cotton so it would hold up better. But no worries, looks like the cotton twill is a good option for...

Lol. So true about FB Marketplace. It’s the only game in my area too. I just found a 1986 Bianchi there for $25 and I only had to drive 20 miles. So as frustrating as it is there are deals to be had.
