I have a couple of dual 1229s I run through tube gear into Altec Valencias. This time of year though I switch to solid state because it's so darn hot.

Dual pivots are just easier to design for long reach. I love em. Having said that, mafac raids are as good or better but really either will stop you extremely well with a decent lever.

It's a good investment. I bought one with 23mm and 23.35 sides from Poland and French bikes started showing up in basement shortly thereafter.

A gentle reaming will fix that. Gotta be careful though as the French tubes are 28mm o.d. I will gently ream to 26.8 inside for a campy post but that leaves .6mm walls which is as far as I'll go.

My lowest trail bike is my gugiefied austro daimler. Personally I don't understand the issues folks have with it but I ride much farther from the edge than many. Also I love front loading a bike.
