Last time I was on snow, I got close to riding...

Last time I was on snow, I got close to riding out of my neighborhood. My knobby MTB tires slipped and I slammed the deck then slid quite a ways.

next time I will be on my railed sled!

Its spacing is I believe like other coaster brake hubs.

A guess here but if the tires were original, the bike might be early 70’s. I had a 72 Sears 3 speed which had those and have seen other 70’s bikes with those DY tires.

Not on BMX but ridges on the brake surfaces were a common thing on vintage road bikes from Europe. I’ve seen both chrome and aluminum examples. It’s the braking noise I could not stand!

The colour of the rim does not have anything to do with stopping ability. Rim composition can. Is the blk rim aluminum? If so, it will be better gripped by the pads then chrome.
