thanks for your reply the guard pulley is completely smooth [no teeth] and frozen so the chain just slides across it should i replace the rear derailleur ? and if so, any suggestions on what type...

Repair help?

i have a schwinn luxe triple chainwheel with long-cage mountech derailleur in rear.
the rear derailleur has an easily removable tension pulley but the guard pulley has a flat spring i cannot remove...
