Sinz sells em on ebay for about $12. I've been using one happily for 6 months. Its not perfectly round, and it sure as hell won't last me forever, but its holding up great and I'm happy with the buy....

"Race bikes"? Most bike shops do use shraeder valves because they use pressurized air, weird that they wouldn't have a valve cap converter though.
They really don't carry road tubes?
