Most companies will put the height and weight capacities of their bikes in the spec sheets. The common weight limits I've seen (in the US, not sure where you live) are 230 lbs, 260 lbs, and 300 lbs....

The welds failing probably doesn't have anything to do with the hinge. That being said it seems likely they have updated their manufacturing processes as they have not continued to have recalls.

It's in surprisingly good shape. They didn't even take the $170 Brooks saddle that was only secured by a quick release, although the saddle did get scuffed up a bit.

It's the Tern Luggage Truss with the Tern Hold 'Em basket. Only 7kg total load capacity, but I think it will be a convenient way to hold my lock and enough groceries for a meal or two.
