My wife has a Neko 2 and we ride trails ranging from hard pack, rail trails and occasionally she will try some beginner single track. We both have MAXXIS Ramblers on our DS's and they have been great.

That's a bit of a stretch for a comparison, IMO. An inexpensive fork has a place and type of riding it's meant for and much better than getting used to a ridgid fork if you're riding gravel or light...
