If you had reused a chain from a 50T compact setup that was sized using the same method you would not have had enough chain. You properly sized a new chain so no worries. Relax - go ride :)

There are plenty of reasons. I wanted something I can ride in bad weather, and I'd rather ride this frame with lesser skilled riders as they can and do cause crashes. I'd also like to use this setup...
