There's a reason cycling specific clothing exists. If you ride 5-10 mile at a time you can get by with everything including wearing a speedo,lol. Personally I'm not rich enough to buy cheap cycling...

Aside from the boredom factor riding indoors on a trainer is much more efficient training method than riding outdoors. There are no outside factors such as traffic, stop signs/lights, weather, etc.....

I don't need a FS for the terrain that I will ride and I do not want to pay a weight and maintenance penalty.
Also for $2500 you can only get a mediocre FS bike not a nice one.

Unless there is a time limit there is nothing special about riding a century, double century or whatever.... it is like running a marathon or a half marathon in races which have very generous time...
