Right or wrong, if as a cyclists, it's your obligation and your benefit to make yourself visible. You have to assume that drivers don't see you or don't care...

Also a bicycle tire does not have the same profile as a car. If you compared it to a motorcycle tire you would of been better off.

By law they are required to install reflectors. Most of the other stuff was from the shipping box.

But i've gone on group rides where they stop at a deli and have sandwiches with a 1/3lb of meat and a bag of chips....
