The problem is the chain is a wear and tear item. However they should be able to measure it and see if it is worn out. If it is not i think they should cover the warranty claim as collateral...

Cranks work good but there is less clearance from the crank arm to the FD than Shimano. Not sure about weight but I heard Shimano ultegra only 40 grams lighter.
