Your chainline will vary too much with only one ring on the front, you'd be better off with a six speed cassette.

You can use any chainring with the correct number of bolts and BCD.

I don't know how accurate these numbers are (don't care), but it does illustrate the fact that more bikes (and cars) are in use everyday and thus, more bike/car incidents...
