I don't think anyone should have to wear one, including kids ...but I don't care if people choose to wear them or make their kids wear them.

Your chainline will vary too much with only one ring on the front, you'd be better off with a six speed cassette.

You can use any chainring with the correct number of bolts and BCD.

I don't know how accurate these numbers are (don't care), but it does illustrate the fact that more bikes (and cars) are in use everyday and thus, more bike/car incidents...
