I have 1500+ miles on my comp without bearing or other issues. The only problem I've had is its reluctant to go back into the garage after a ride. It just wants to ride and ride :)

Neither my Comp or spouses Ariel sport disc do that, but they are hydraulic type brakes. Sounds like the pad is a bit loose in the caliper.. or you have a loose mounting screw.
