They make both, but the Shimano version is seemingly far less common. If the splines on the hub body are more than a few MM tall then it's Campy.

Wiggle.UK has the D/A 7700 levers for ~$44. I have a set on the way for a similar build. With DT levers you can use friction as well, if not better, than indexing IME.

You could always switch to Mobil1 90w gear oil. Full synthetic and lighter than grease (but not much). A PITA, though. I've had good luck with a synthetic Finish Line grease.
