According to Trek's research, under 20mph 32mm tires are faster than narrower ones, but over that the aero penalty makes them slower. This is presumably for paved riding.

I receive the Vittoria Terrano Dry tires today but there is a specific instruction on the sidewall to only mount them on hooked rims, whereas my Roval Control SL's are hookless. Any thoughts?

Must be something to do with the rim/tire combination. Schwalbe has been one of the more reliable manufacturers for tubeless and the G-One has become the OE tire on a number of gravel bikes.
