1. hard packed gravel roads (most people seem to agree)

Skipjacks: Rail trails with anything skinnier than 28s is awful in my experience during wet conditions. However, that stays true on 40+ wide tires when the limestone turns to cement mix.

Good luck! The ride from Pittsburgh to Cumberland is very fun. Connellsville, PA has a good campsite and their is a good site in Rockwood too.

If I was to buy a new bike, I would just get a long haul trucker with 26"...
