I bought mine in 2018(it was a practically unused shop demo), and have over 30k miles on it. The bearings are due for a replacement, but still feel smooth, and thereís no creaking.

It's comparatively easy to find cycling shoes for people with flippers for feet.

Using bad tires with stiff casings(like Gatorskins) will definitely slow you down. If thorn punctures are your main source of flats. tubeless is going to be smoother, and likely faster.
