The “solid” on option did not seem that annoying to me but it starts to flash when a detected car gets closer, so depends on how many cars a group ride encounters I guess.

Not familiar with the jc200 unit, and the photo doesn’t really have a good view of it for my eyes, but if it is a short box with two “female” ports in it, you shouldn’t need extra wiring.
