I heard that stems made out of hollow steel tubes(welded) are lighter in weight than forged aluminum,alloy ones.Is this generally true?
Given same length,dimensions.

Ps: I went from shim. tri colour indexed(7sp) to pure friction campa. Friction is nicer,i don't like those heavy clicks.

I changed the shifters to friction.New seatpost,handlebar. And cut the brake housing a little shorter. Now at 8.85kg/ 19.5lbs

If it is in bad shape,you got to paint it.It will extend the life of the bike. Stripping the old paint and making a good job is better than crap paint.It may even rust depending on the steel.
