I was cruising on my fastroad at 17 mph but got blasted by an army of roadies, they were probably doing 25+ mph. If you were riding a flat soft pavement you would probably be faster.

Maybe cannondale synapse flatbar ,BMC Alpenchallenge or canyon roadlite . I have a fastroad sl3 and several others here have Trek Fx or the Sirrus.

The aluminum frame probably has better component. In the entry-level carbon, a lot of corners were cut to make it affordable. I would only go with carbon if i plan on upgrading the parts over time.

In my opinion tires at reduce air pressured and saddle makes the most noticeable difference. Anything else is just minor improvement or weight weenie upgrade.

I don't worry about it. My chain usually stretch around 1k miles. In my area it rains half the year, i think chains can take it.
