I bought a used one in 2011. The seller (NatoPotato, I think) was in Seattle (where I lived at the time) for business, thus I avoided shipping costs. I have built several hundred wheels on it.

The Preciray stand is not self-centering. Centering the rim in the center of the hub requires simple arithmetic. Hub width is automatically measured by a permanent ruler on the stand. Rim width is...

(I assume that you meant to say "About 1/10th of what I pay" or "I pay 10x that much." :) )

Hub width is indicated when the wheel is placed into the jig. A sliding ruler flips up to measure the rim width, and then slides back to a zero right position. 1/2 hub width - 1/2 rim width = right...

Not even close. I've built hundreds of wheels on each, prolly >1000 on Precirays. A Preciray allows the wheel to be trued with a single pass, and the dishing gauge was brilliant -- hard to explain...

+1 to Peterpan1's comments re joint strength. The air hardening alloys might have 2X the UTS of normalized 4130 tubing of the same dimensions, but that does not translate to 2X the joint strength.

I've never used Gasflux U, but I believe that's a white paste, right? I have better luck brazing SS with Safty-Silv black paste. I think Gasflux makes a black paste. (Note that I use Gas-flux in-line...

A big guy can run marathons and ultras! Over the past 13 years, I've run 74 ultramarathons, mostly trail, mostly 50k's (31 miles), but a few 50 milers too. And a dozen or so marathons. My average...

292mm for high flange hubs and Velocity Aerohead 700C rims sounds long to me. What pattern are you using? 3X? How many spoke holes? Assuming a 32-hole, 3x, 600mm ERD, 65mm flange width, 32.5mm...

I would agree with the skeptics. In my heyday, I was a very strong (sub-hour 25-mile TT-ist) 220 lb. rider who mashed gears, and my old Sedisport chains usually lasted 4000+ miles. Furthermore, I...
