Yes, o-rings or any type of shim will help set toe-in, just not as quickly or precisely (or greatly assist in horizontal alignment). YRMV.

I've got a couple hundred kms on the new cassette and chain now. Shifting is quick and precise - better than the Ultegra cassette and chain that they replaced.
