A lot of the cyclist accidents happen early morning / evening involving people w/o cars commuting to their jobs. Better bike lanes in crowded areas would help, but probably will be made of unobtanium.

You're not supposed to enter TOBAY with a bike, there are some racks at the end of the path. Don't know what happens if you enter the lot with your bike.

Yes in most places it is further away - up to 50'. And there are cable barriers at underground crossings already, and in between roadways at both of the Gilgos, but I think those may be to stop...

The only problem with the Dew and hydraulic brakes is if you hang it upright on the wall. Takes a while to self bleed and get a firm brake lever.
