On the trainer, I just use a pair of Shimano R500s ($120 on ebay shipped) because trainer wheels don't really matter too much. Also, you might want to look around on cassettes...I got 2 ultegra...

I'd take a look at Mavic Ksyrium Elites too...I've always been partial to Mavics

That being said, you get more bang for your buck for handbuilts like Boyd, Psimet, etc.

of course boyd vitesse wheels give you a great bang for your buck...i ride by the boyd shop...

If you're willing to wait, somebody will give you 700-800 for it most likely.

Get a roof rack or a hitch rack if you're worried about security. Most trunk racks can be taken off the car completely with the bikes on...

And as far as wheels go, Ksyrium Elites should be all you need if you don't race or plan on it. Great bombproof, stiff wheels. Just ride the bike as is and replace stuff as it wears out.

Go to a bike shop and take a look at a Cannondale CAAD10, Specialized Allez, and other bikes on that level. You should be more concerned about fit at this point than components.
