Excellent 1990's 8-speed levers, with the down tube cable guide adapters. Work flawlessly. Shift with the precision of a rifle bolt! Metal parts rule, compared to the modern plastic stuff.

Greasing the pawls is a good thing. But you don't want to put too much, or the pawls will get 'slow' to deploy, and may cause skipping when you accelerate. Oil will do nothing.
