I have the Thule Evo wingbar setup, with Yakima front loader carriers. I like it. When I got a new car, just had to get a different fit kit. Works well.

It really does sound like the 56 fits you well. You can make adjustments to make a 56 slightly larger to fit you, you can only do so much to make a bike smaller though. I would say go for it.

I have to agree with the many other, you would either have to save some more and see what 1k gets you. Or take your search to the used bike market. You could score a pretty good deal on a used bike....
