I've been using toe-clips and straps since I got my first Raleigh Grand Prix in 1976. I can ride to work wearing my work boots or anywhere else in street shoes.

I looked through late 1970's and early 1980's Miyata catalogs to pin down the date, 1980 was the last year they used Tange tubing. In 1981, the 912 had "Miyata" chro-mo double butted tubing.

Keep in mind that manufacturers claimed widths are not always consistent with reality. You'll need a forum member who actaully has a pair of 27" tires inflated on their bike to measure them for you....

What I meant was, did you try polishing the rough chrome before the experimental paint? If you can polish the chrome, you won't need the mirror paint or whatever that is.
