I once broke a spoke by putting my foot into the front wheel. I thought I was clipped in, but I wasn’t. My foot slipped forward and bounced off the spokes. One snapped. The sound still haunts me.

I raced. I bridged up to a solo breakaway guy. Stayed away for a lap and a half or so. Blew up. Went to the back of the pack. Finished at the back of the pack. I really suck at this. Fun race, though.

Not all helmets fit the same - Bell helmets seem to fit my head better than Giro helmets. But a $40 helmet will protect the same as a $300 helmet.
