Low profile suspension seatpost

My wife and I have a Litespeed tandem. She would like a suspension seatpost but there is not enough room for one. It's only 2 1/4" or 57mm from the seatpost clamp to the top of the rails on her seat....

Did you make sure that the elevation (vertical) of the derailleur above the largest chainring is correct? If it is too low the chain can be jammed and prevented from going over the large chainring....
